Welcome

(Dinsdale the Fabulous)

Welcome to my iPad art space.  Life without the iPad didn't seem much of a deprivation until one rainy day in August, when the attraction of the Art apps, and most particularly the user-friendly 'Brushes' app, finally became too great to keep on resisting. It proved such a pleasure to use that it was not long before the 'Art Rage' and 'Art Studio' apps were downloaded, too, just in case anything even better might be being missed; so far I have only taken a cursory look at those, as I am enjoying 'Brushes' far too much to be distracted by the other apps. For a little while I used a stylus but have more or less ditched it in favour of the fingerpainting method - it seems it's not impossible to use a screen covered with fingerprints, after all.

It's years since I drew anything, by digital or other means, and so I am not discouraged by my efforts to date, rather quite pleased to find myself still able to draw; pixel art is not new to me as in the distant past (late nineties, early two-thousands), I created hundreds of user objects and skins for import into the PC game, 'The Sims'. The iPad is a more comfortable experience than any had at the PC monitor ever were, with either a mouse or Wacom tablet, for sure!

I don't know if the quality of the images, which I saved and later posted to Flickr, is as good as it could be, so maybe in future I will upload images directly to Flickr, rather than first saving them on the iPad.  I should have read the 'for best results' bit first, as it is indeed the case that the colours are not as bright, and the pictures lack on the monitor the depth they have on the iPad - still, we live and learn (sometimes). I have also learnt that deleting a layer from a completed picture is sometimes not a good idea at all...obvious, really, I suppose!

I'll post random offerings whenever I draw, and will hope to experiment with the other apps later, too.

Thanks for looking!
Julie
